What happens in the first session & how long are sessions?

I typically like to spend the first session getting to you know you and understanding what is bringing you to therapy at this point in your life. We will discuss your goals for therapy and you will have the opportunity to ask me questions. Sessions are 50 minutes.

Do you accept insurance?

I have chosen not to accept insurance in my practice. I have found that working out of network allows the therapeutic relationship to expand without the constraints of insurance regulations (i.e. diagnostic requirements / session limits).

How often will we meet and how many sessions will I have?

Since I do not accept insurance in my practice, we have no limitations on the number of sessions or how often we can/can't meet. It is my philosophy that we will decide together how many sessions/how often we will meet. I have clients who meet with me weekly, biweekly, monthly, and as needed.

Are sessions in-person or virtual?

At this time, I am only available to meet virtually.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, I am not a medical doctor. Many of my clients find medication is helpful, but many of them also progress well in therapy without medication. If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, either contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. If you are already taking medication, I can coordinate care with your doctor with your consent.

Are there any topics or types of clients that you don't work with?

I only work with adults aged 18(+). I do not conduct child custody evaluations nor do I provide custody recommendations. I also don’t provide treatment for eating disorders, psychotic disorders (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, etc.), or personality disorders. Due to state licensing laws, I can only provide therapy and counseling to individuals residing in Ohio.
